Tuesday Links

Just a short link post today as I’m far too busy catching up on the blogging to read much of anything.
First, in context:
The Diplomat’s Andreas Kuersten explains how the Western sanctions against Russia affect the country’s activities in the arctic region and how it’s problems there could benefit China.
Second, in history:
The Guardian featured a piece on the last day of the old year about old Prussian statesman Bismarck, and how he got away with his role in WW1.
And finally, in Dutch:
My close friend Clio Stronk has taken on this blog challenge as well and will post a historical ‘on this day’ blog every day in 2015. She’s gotten off to a great start, so if you read Dutch and love history, follow voetnootjes.blogspot.nl.
